Muse Not Ready To Release New Album

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Muse may have plenty of material written for their new album but have revealed that they ave no plans to release it anytime soon.

Speaking to reporters at BBC 6music, Muse Bassist Chris Wolstenholme said:

“There’s about six or seven songs that we’ve started work on, but they’re still very young. I don’t think there’s anything that we’re ready to record yet. We just wanted to get started this year, to get the ball rolling a little bit rather than wait for a year doing nothing then get in the studio, and go, ‘What do we do now?’.  Sometimes you can suffer from having too much time off.”

Muse had previously announced how they were writing material for their new album, a follow -up to 2006’s ‘Black Holes And Revelations‘, however in this latest revelation, that band have made it clear that they are not quite ready to start the recording process.

It does seem however that they taking a new direction with the new album, which could explain the lengthy process, Wolstenholme explained:

We’re looking to do new things and we’ll just try and do things that are kind of alien to us, you know, and things we haven’t done before ‘cos that’s what we find challenging about making music.

Muse Working On Fifth Album

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Muse Drummer Dominic Howard has been telling all how they have been busy writing tracks for their new album.

The bands fifth album which as of yet has no title is a follow-up to Muse’s 2006 ‘Black Holes and Revelations’.

Speaking to the BBC, Dominic told reporters:

“We’re working on new stuff and we’re gonna have a couple of weeks off and then in about two weeks time we’re back out to Italy to start writing again. We’ve already done a few tracks and it sounds great, so we’re just working towards the future.”

The band were of course referring to recording in their studio near Lake Cuomo in Italy.

Howard also told how they penned a few tracks before their headline at the V-Festival 2008 (16th & 17th August).

Lets hope that experience gave the band the inspiration they needed to finish the much anticipated record. No official release date has been set as of yet - and we can’t wait.

Muse: No More Albums…

Friday, March 14th, 2008

MuseInfluential Rock band Muse have announced that they will no longer release any albums in their current format. Instead that band have decided it best to release many more singles.

The band are currently in the studio recording new material and Matt had this to say “I don’t think we’re going to approach the next album like we’re making an album.”. That makes sense.

So could this be the revival of the singles chart? Single sales have been dwindling for years and I can see this catching on - but only temporarily. If the band keep the current single format of 1 good song and 2 (crap) b-sides, who is going to bother filling up their CD shelf? Its annoying as it is to have to change CD when an album finishes (30-45mins) never mind having to do it after 3 songs. And think what they will be doing to the environment with all that extra plastic. Aren’t musicians meant to love nature?

The band have stated that they will do this in order to gauge public response to the songs and then release a best of album every 2-3 years. Talk about sucking you dry.

Hey Bellamy! Nearly everyone has CD burners now - not to mention mp3 players! Since we own the singles we can make our own compilations thanks. Do what you do best and stop trying to be a business man - just give the public what they want: your music!

Who’s with me?
