Amazon Sells Lily Allen And Coldplay Albums At Bargain Prices
Amazon are sure to be feeling a little red in the face after accidentally selling whole albums downloads for less than the usual prize of downloading one single!
The mistake was made on Wednesday night (17.06.09), when major online retailer Amazon advertised the download of almost 30 full albums for a mere 29p.
Buyers must have been amazed at the bargains they were getting where big name albums from artists such as Metallica, Lily Allen, Kings of Leon, Coldplay and Bruce Springsteen were offered at the cheap price over a four hour time slot before the mistake was realised.
Amazon were quick to respond to the situation and didn’t deny the mistake saying,
“We can confirm that earlier today there was a pricing error on a small number of MP3 albums. This issue has been rectified. Despite our best efforts, with the millions of items available on our website, pricing errors can occur .”
Problem now is that eagle eye buyers were quick to pick up on the mistake and with news spreading on online communities fast, there was an obvious surge in sales.
The knock-on effect this will now have on the charts will not be evident until the new charts are revealed.
I’m sorry i missed out on this little bargain, just wondering if any of our readers were lucky enough to snag this deal?
