Adam Lambert Signs to 19 Recordings/ RCA
Perhaps the reason why Adam Lambert didn’t win American Idol has something to do with fans knowing that he would get a record deal regardless of whether he won or not.
Although, in my opinion, it also may have something to do with the fact that teenage girl Idol voters find it easier to fantasize about the straight guy.
In any case, Lambert has signed with 19 Recordings and RCA Records, and is preparing himself for a debut album release in the fall.
He said in a statement: “I’m thrilled that we’ve come to a creative and collaborative partnership and look forward to developing a really exciting album. We are 100% on the same page and are all anxiously awaiting the start of the recordings.”
Yesterday Idol winner Kris Allen announced that he’d signed a deal with 19/ Jive Records.
Kris Allen may have won Idol, but his Idol album sales aren’t stacking up quite as nicely as those all-in votes did.
Though Adam Lambert came in second on this season of the show, his 12-song Season 8 Favorite Performances has sold 25,000 copies – 10,000 of which were sold this week to place the album at No. 52 on the album chart.
By comparison, Kris Allen came in at No. 125 for the week and has only sold a total of 14,000 copies.
