Diana DeGarmo Cyber-Stalker Gets Two Year Sentence

The woman on trial for online stalking former American Idol contestant Diana DeGarmo was sentenced to more than two years in prison on Friday.

She had been stalking the singer online, literally from the opposite side of the globe.

The 23-year-old Tanya Maree Quattrocchi pled guilty to four counts of cyber-stalking; the defendant stood accused of hacking into DeGarmo’s MySpace account and intercepting messages from the singer’s mother and roommate, model Donielle Morris.

Quattrocchi will be eligible for parole after twelve months, though the Victoria state County Court sentenced her to 26 months hard time.

The judge, Lisa Hannan, seemed to think that Quattrocchi’s offense was quite serious, and took into consideration the allegations against her came about only six months after Quattrocchi had been convicted on similar charges.

Two years ago, the cyber-stalker was convicted of both online stalking and blackmailing DeGarmo in 2006.

She was sentenced to 150 hours of community service.

Apparently, this was not enough punishment to put a halt to her behavior – however, two years in prison just may do the trick.

Quattrocchi has been kept in custody since her arrest, which occurred as she sat at a computer, typing an email in which she was pretending to be DeGarmo’s mother.

The sentence she is now serving is for offenses that began in November 2007.

The judge pointed out that the stalking made DeGarmo incredibly vulnerable and affected the singer’s entire life.
