Purchase a Wolfmother MP3 with your Email
Wolfmother has gotten on the giveaway-a-free-download boat in order to promote their upcoming second album by releasing their new single “Back Round,” which means you get a free download only if you supply the official website with your email address and cell phone number so they can promote themselves to you as often as they see fit (or rather, their record company can hire a marketing company to promote the band to you).
Though I love Wolfmother, I’m pretty sick of giving out my email in exchange for MP3s, so I think I’m just going to have to wait until my friendly local music blogger uploads the track to their site.
The rest of the album has yet to be recorded; Wolfmother plans on getting back in the studio in Los Angeles early next month (April). They are to work with producer Alan Moulder, who has in the past done production work for My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, and Nine Inch Nails.
If you do decide that getting promotional emails from Wolfmother is okay, you’ll note that the band is encouraging donations to be made to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal as you download (the band is from Australia). So…in addition to paying for an MP3 with your email address, you also have the option to heal the world as well.
