Corey Taylor Writes Solo Album, Slipknot on Tour
Slipknot is about to take their show on the road in celebration of the 10th anniversary of their first album release, and frontman Corey Taylor is plotting his first solo album simultaneously. He says he plans on releasing a solo album instead of returning to his other band (Stone Sour) after this tour.
The new album is (going to be) influenced by the Foo Fighters, Social D, and Johnny Cash. Yes, that means there will be a certain country element on Taylor’s album. He tells Billboard.com that there are “a lot of songs I’ve written that don’t fit with either band, really.” No worries for Slipknot fans, though – the album will have “a lot of upbeat, just flat-out hard rock tunes.”
Taylor plans on staying committed to Slipknot until September, when the band is scheduled to finish touring. The tour is a continuation of the tour in support of last year’s fourth album, All Hope Is Gone. According to the band’s frontman, the tour is “getting away from the pyro and way more visual, video-oriented this time.”
The singer also commented about Slipknot’s longevity: “It not only proves so many people were wrong but that we were right. My dream wasn’t just to make it but it was to stay here and be able to do whatever we want to do, which is just how it’s worked out.”
