Napster In the Best Buy Basket
Best Buy, the American consumer electronics giant, has worked out a deal to buy Napster for $121million in cash.
That works out to be $2.65 per share.
The deal is expected to to be signed, sealed and delivered this winter after due diligence is carried out.
The management team at Napster have all been able to keep their jobs and hopefully steer the company towards increasing its 700,000 user base.
I felt Napster had fallen off the edge of the planet – forced out by bigger rivals like . Alas, it seems that Best Buy have an idea for the company.
One can only imagine that they will be looking to sell the service’s fast store of music instore as well as via its website.
I don’t understand why companies don’t have docks instore for all the popular mp3 players on the market. People could come in, dock their device and buy the album of their choosing – which would then transfer it to the mp3 player.
It couldn’t possibly be that difficult to make. If this idea has not currently been patented – then you heard it here first and I reserve all rights to it.
What do you think Best Buy will do with Napster?
