Simon Cowell: American Idol is Boring

Simon CowellThe American version of Pop Idol, cleverly named American Idol, has been labelled as “mind numbingly boring” by the ever critical Simon Cowell. He is reported as saying :

“It’s a reality show. If you’re bored you’re bored. If you’re not, you’re not. I can’t help it if I’m bored. Sometimes it’s mind-numbingly boring, and it shows on my face.”

I can see how listening to a conveyor belt of singing pig meat would be boring – but surely he could spice it up a little.

Maybe, when people walk in, he could just start saying no to ugly people – talent or not. This would make the line move much faster and it makes economical sense. Ordinary men people want model gorgeous women/men singing their power ballads and wasted pop – not some fat bird. I’m sure this is a concept not lost on Cowell, but some of the people he lets in the competition beggars belief. Check out the mugs on this lot :

Sure – this might not sit well with Human Rights activists or Greenpeace (’cause for some of the contestants – you just can’t be sure), but it would definitely liven things up a tad.

The music mogul went on to add :

“We always say, we can’t guarantee we will find a superstar. We will do our best, but we are at the mercy of who turns up at the auditions.”

True – but couldn’t you just contact the local drama and arts college and grab some proper talent – even if you force them through the show. Surely that’s what happened with Leona Lewis?
