Metallica Release New Single “My Apocalypse”

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Metallica have revealed another new track from their much anticipated forthcoming album “Death Magnetic”.

The final track from the new album entitled ‘My Apocalypse’, is now free to listen to via the Metallica Website.

As we reported in an earlier article Metallica Preview: The Day That Never Comes, the band has also released one other track on their website, which from our readers responses has had very mixed reviews indeed.

These songs, “The Day that Never Comes” and “My Apocalypse” are the only two full tracks that fans have had the chance to preview from the “Death Magnetic” album which is set for release on 12th September.

The band previewed the two songs from the new album as well as old classics, when they played to thousands of fans at the  Reading and Leeds festival 2008 during the weekend (23rd & 24th August).

So - whats the verdict on “My Apocalypse”?

In my opinion it is the better of the two songs (The Day That Never Comes) and sounds a LOT more Metallica.

The drums are awesome! The only downer I have to note is the vocals. They are not loud or edgy enough.

Metallica - Love A Good Argument

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

A good argument keeps a band together - or so says Metallica Front-man James Hetfield. James has admitted that the volatile nature of the band has kept them together the last 27 years.

The band who originally formed in 1981 have sold over 100-million albums and despite a few changes in members and a few full-blown heated arguments they are still going strong today.

James told reporters from the Sun Newspaper:

“Our relationship is part of what makes Metallica special. If everything goes smooth all the time then something is wrong. You have to have friction as it creates energy, brainstorms, pro-activity and we go forward.”

James also told reporters that he reached his “lowest ebb” in 2003 when the bands album, ‘St Anger’ was met with much criticism.

Since then the band have gone from strength to strength, headlining the Reading And Leeds Festivals this weekend (August 22-24).

Metallica release their long awaited follow-up, ‘Death Magnetic’, on September 12th as we reported in our article: Metallica Preview: The Day That Never Comes.

“The Day That Never Comes” is the first single from the new album, available to listen to from the Metallica Website.

Metallica Preview: The Day That Never Comes

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Metallica have put out “The Day That Never Comes” on their website (Metallica.com) for everyone to hear.

The song is the first single from their soon-to-be-released-ninth-studio album : “Death Magnetic“. The album is set to hit the shelves on September 12th.

The single continues Metallica’s move away from their roots (Metal) towards the Rock genre. Which I don’t personally see as a bad thing, but many hardcore fans are becoming disillusioned.

One issue that has always plagued the band is air time from radio stations. This has nearly always been due to the length of their songs - and going by The Day That Never Comes - things will be no different. The track is over 8 minutes long.

Their Mission Impossible song (I Disappear) was so popular because it ticked all the boxes in regards to being a hit. It got airtime because it was 4 and a half minutes long.

Jump over to the Metallica website and let us know your thoughts on the new track.
