Pete Doherty Fined for Heroin Use
I was just thinking the other day about Pete Doherty’s lack of recent drug headlines, only to be hit with this one this morning.
Apparently the Babyshambles frontman was fined by police in Geneva for heroin consumption during a flight from London.
A Geneva police spokesman confirmed today that Doherty was collected by officers when his British Airways flight arrived on Friday.
Doherty was held for two hours and was released upon payment of the fine incurred.
According to an Associated Press report, Doherty was tested for heroin – a feat which was originally reported by Swiss tabloid Le Matin.
That report claimed that the 30-year-old singer was found in a bathroom stall by a flight attendant, and that he was incapacitated with needle lying nearby.
It was then that the in-flight crew contacted authorities.
Doherty is by now an old hat at this whole getting arrested for drugs thing – last year he served 29 days in a London prison after being charged with possession of crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis while the singer was on probation.
It is not known how much Doherty had to pay to get out of jail.
The singer had been on his way to present his solo debut at a festival in Neuchatel, Switzerland.
