Oasis Abandon Stage Twice At Manchester Heaton Park
Oasis were forced to abandon the stage, not once but twice, during their performance last night at Manchester’s Heaton Park.
Yesterday we reported in our article ‘Liam Gallagher Launches Tour and ‘Pretty Green’ Clothing Label’, how Oasis were kicking off their UK summer tour dates last night.
Technical problems saw the band having to leave the stage during their opening song while a sound generator was fixed. Not exactly the best way to start a gig.
The fans waited in anticipation as the issues were resolved but eventually got tired waiting and the sound of boos could be heard from the crowd.
The band were then forced to leave the stage again during the second song, due to similar technical difficulties, but returned some time later and completed the full live set.
Feeling a little bad for the crowds, Liam and co, then promised all 70,000 fans in attendance that they would get a full refund of their ticket money.
Liam addressed the crowds from the stage, “Really sorry about that, this is a free gig now. Everyone will get a refund.”
Noel also added that they were planning to make up for any performance time missed, “The curfew’s 11, but we’ll play ’til they kick us off. Keep your ticket and you’ll get your money back.”
A generous move, considering the technical difficulties were completely out of the bands control and Oasis did finish the performance that fans came to see.
However, it seems Noel took a little time and then had a little re-think about refunding fans, and decided with the current economic situation, he couldn’t really afford it after all:
“We’re not sure how its gonna work with getting the money back. Be on a website or summat. We’re not getting paid for this so buy a t-shirt on the way out. Credit crunch and that, keep my kids in sweets.”
And just incase anyone mistakenly thought they still had a hope of getting that ‘refund‘, he put it quite bluntly:
“Kind of regret offering you your money back now. Apply for it back if you wanna be a cunt, we do our best for you.”
