Transplant Charity Efforts Joined by Jane’s Addiction
Jane’s Addiction has joined Trent Reznor in his attempt to raise money for a fan who desperately needs a heart transplant.
The Nine Inch Nails frontman has been selling VIP packages for his band’s tour with Jane’s Addiction in order to help out Eric De La Cruz.
The 27-year-old heart patient is the brother of former CNN reporter Veronica De La Cruz, and will die without a heart transplant.
He has been unable to obtain a transplant, because he is on Medicaid, which will pay for neither the search nor the procedure.
So far, Reznor has raised almost $860,000 for De La Cruz through three options of VIP packages:
- $300 for presence at the sound check and a meet-and-greet;
- $1,000 to also chill with the band pre-show, eat dinner backstage, and view the show from the side of the stage;
- $1,200 to also have two extra tickets.
The packages were so successful that room on the sides of the stage sold out. Reznor Tweeted: “We had no idea this would generate THIS MUCH interest and simply can’t accommodate any more people.”
Reznor began selling autographed copies of Still and Tony Hawk skateboards to raise still more money for De La Cruz’s procedure.
Jane’s Addiction has set up similar packages to benefit De La Cruz: a $1,000 donation will gain access to the band’s pre-show dressing room rehearsal for up to ten fans at each tour date.
That price will also allow fans to watch the band’s set from the stage sidelines and to pick up an autographed something-or-other.
