New Album Title from Mariah
On May 20, both Usher and Mariah Carey announced the titles of their upcoming albums (in separate statements).
Mariah, who seems to be at least updated on the latest internet social networking/ marketing trends, announced the title of her next album via Twitter, writing to her more than 400,000 followers:
“Bcuz I Love U, I want u to be the first to know the titled of my new album ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ Its very personal & dedicated to u.”
The Twitt came mid-day on Wednesday from a web update (she is normally partial to keeping fans up to date through the BlackBerry application TwitterBerry).
The singer also told fans that she was working with Timbaland on the new album via the blog-like status message site.
She also informed fans how much she was enjoying her own songs: “These songs are making me soooooooo happy!”
A label rep confirmed that the album Mariah is currently working on is scheduled for release in the fall, though no information (other than what Mariah Tweeted) is available.
Yesterday we reported the announcement of Usher’s new album in our article “Usher Reveals ‘Monster’ Album Details” Usher’s announcement however, was a bit more standard in comparison to Mariah’s.
A press release – consisting of one line – came out that afternoon, stating, “Usher has just announced ‘Monster’ as the title for upcoming new album to be released fall 2009.”
That Usher. So professional.
