Jackson Hires Magician for O2 Shows

According to E! News, Ed Alonzo, the magician behind the stunts on Britney’s Circus tour, has been hired to further pimp out Michael Jackson’s O2 shows.

The magician said on Friday: “I met with Michael Jackson a couple of days ago and am now officially creating magic and illustrations for his concert. I will not be performing in the show as I do with Britney. I’m just creating the magic that Michael has requested in his vision.

Jackson will be performing the magic tricks during these performances, perhaps making the tickets worth the incredibly high prices people are selling them for on second-hand ticket sites like Stub Hub.

Alonzo gives the singer props for having “a great knowledge of magic” and for having performed illusions in previous shows.

Alonzo will also be in London in June when the European leg of Britney’s tour hits the city.

According to the magician, Jackson plans on using magic in two routines:

I have to show him a demo of the effects next week. Then the props are to be built and he will start rehearsals. I will teach him the effects and help in staging them.”

So now that this thing looks like it’s getting off the ground, sort of (if one overlooks pending legal disagreements, like Jackson seems to be doing), I am more intrigued than ever.

But do I really want to spend $300 on an arena ticket?

Especially when the featured performer is so unreliable.
