Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody Found New Album Challenging
Snow Patrol’s frontman Gary Lightbody has revealed how he found the bands most recent album, the most difficult one to date.
The album in question was the bands fifth studio album entitled ‘A Hundred Million Suns‘, released in October 2008.
Belfast hailed frontman Lightbody seemed to be struggling with his focus on the more upbeat side of relationships.
Trying to explain the struggle he said, “There were so many lines with big penstrokes through in my notebook“.
He continued, “On previous records, I focused on what I did wrong, or what went wrong, rather than all the wonderful things that go into creating a relationship in the first place. So this time round I had to force myself to create something about being in love that didn’t resort to cliché. It wasn’t as natural for me but all the things that happen on the album have happened to me so it’s certainly honest.”
The band also confirmed that they are continuing to work with Garret ‘Jackknife’ Lee, the same producer from the successes of three of their other albums.
However, there seems signs of a struggle no more with Snow Patrol being one of the headlining acts at Radio 1′s Big Weekend this summer.
Set to take place at Lydiard Park, Swindon on May 9th and 10th, Snow Patrol will join fellow headliners Lily Allen and Kasabian. With 40,000 tickets available for the event via the Radio 1 website, Snow Patrol are sure to be give a fine performance of tracks from ‘A Hundred Million Suns‘ to their adoring fans.
