Lily Allen Struggles to Combine Career and Lifestyle
UK starlet Lily Allen has revealed how she worried that her lifestyle would affect her ever being taken seriously as an artist.
Back in 2006, Lily released her debut album ‘Alright, Still‘, which just happened to coincide with a lot of wild party’s, drinking and inevitably a few not so nice newspaper headlines about the young singer.
Lily revealed how she then became worried that no-one would ever take notice of her for her singing/songwriting talents, and rather she would end up being known as a classic case of celebrity children who have experienced too much too young.
The 22-year-old said, “I took a bit of a beating the first time around. I became more famous for being a train wreck than a singer. I didn’t think I was capable of writing songs and making music.”
However, she still feels somewhat that the media have discriminated against her because of her gender and young age saying, “Young women are represented in a way that isn’t true. If a girl is seen having a drink she’s a drunk. If that happens with a guy it’s not portrayed in the same way.”
Since Lilys “awakening“, it seems her talents have gone from strength to strength and she seems to be gaining that respect from the public and media she so desperately craves.
However, she did reveal on her Twitter blog that she has a little way to go yet with the lifestyle changes writing, “I must lay off fags. Eeuugh.”
The declaration comes after Lily suffered an asthma attack after her concert at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, and that just wont do at all, if you are looking to win the hearts and minds of thousands of adoring fans.
