Pearl Jam Churns Out Releases, Tour
Pearl Jam is getting busy in just about every way a musician can – they are getting ready to tour, record an album, and film a movie. The planned tour is of U.S. cities during the second half of the year, of which we know that they are confirmed to hit the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in San Francisco (which they will headline alongside Dave Mathews Band and the Beastie Boys).
The festival is to take place at Golden Gate Park August 28-30, and also included in the lineup are M.I.A., the Mars Volta, Modest Mouse, Black Eyed Peas, Jason Mraz, Ween, and Incubus – an eclectic mix, to put it mildly.
Fourteen new songs have already been completed for Pearl Jam’s upcoming release, and the band is working on a film with director Cameron Crowe, according to what guitarist Mike McCready said during an interview on the Ron & Don radio show in Seattle. He also told the show that the band is only actually about half way through making the new album, and that it should be out before the end of the year. This time around Pearl Jam will be self-releasing their album.
I can’t say that I have any complaints about anything new from Pearl Jam; I’m all for it – the Cameron Crowe film sounds especially interesting, so long as the director doesn’t cheese the band out too much (um, hello, Jerry McGuire).
