No Bail for American Idol Cyber-Stalker

An Australian woman who is accused of stalking American Idol contestant Diana DeGarmo online has been refused bail by a judge who apparently thought the stalker was ready for another go at DeGarmo.

The woman, 23-year-old Tanya Maree Quattrocchi, was convicted in 2007 of stalking (via the Internet) and blackmailing DeGarmo. She was sentenced at that time to 150 hours of community service.

Last January Quattrocchi was arrested once again on six new charges of cyber-stalking DeGarmo, her mother (Brenda), and her roommate (Donielle Morris) in the U.S.

According to police, Quattrocchi interfered with the American Idol contestant’s emails, broke into her MySpace account about 700 times over a period of eight months, and sent electronic messages to the singer between last May and January of this year.

(If you’re scratching your head, wondering just who DeGarmo is, read: DeGarmo was the runner-up in the ’04 season of the talent contest. To date she’s released an album and appeared in a Broadway rendition of Hairspray.)

Quatrochhi was remanded to custody until her court appearance on May 11. Unfortunately for nosey culture whores such as myself, details of the cyber-stalking charges were unavailable.

What I want to know is : Why the hell would you stalk such a Z list Celeb? I guess only Tanya can say…
