Radiohead to Headline Reading and Leeds
The UK’s Reading and Leeds Festivals have confirmed scheduled appearances by Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, and Kings of Leon. The respective festivals will be held at Little Johns Farm, Reading, and Bramham Park, Leeds during the August Bank Holiday weekend of August 28-30.
Also on the festivals’ roster (both feature the same acts) are Prodigy, Kaiser Chiefs, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Fall Out Boy, Placebo, Vampire Weekend, Bloc Party, Deftones, Maximo Park, Friendly Fires, Ian Brown, the Courteeners, White Lies, Gossip, Glasvegas, and Florence and the Machine.
However packed the lineup may be, the star of the two festivals is definitely Radiohead, which is making its debut headline performance at the Reading and Leeds Festival. These two festival appearances will also be the only festival appearances the band will make in the UK for the year. They are slated to appear at Leeds on Saturday August 29, and at Reading the following night.
Kings of Leon will appear at Reading on Friday August 28, and at Leeds the following Sunday night. Arctic Monkeys will be making their first UK appearance since Decemeber 2007 when they headline at Leeds on Friday August 28. They are scheduled to perform in Reading that Saturday.
The lineup seems like Reading and Leeds went after every band that was buzzingly trendy in 2006 (with a few exceptions, like Friendly Fires), but it will still be a pretty good show – worth living in a tent for a couple of nights, anyway.
