Radio 1′s Big Weekend Hits Swindon Town
BBC Radio 1′s big weekend will hit Lydiard Park, in Swindon this May.
Presenter Chris Moyles, announced the news on his breakfast show, broadcast live from Swindon town centre this morning.
The well-known Radio 1 Big Weekend is one of the UK’s biggest free-ticketed music festivals and always attracts a large number of highly reputable artists from the UK and international fields.
Both Snow Patrol and N-Dubz were on hand in Swindon this morning to perform and help promote the event. Both bands are confirmed as being on the set list for the event on Saturday May 9th and Sunday May 10th.
The Lydiard Park site has capacity to hold up to 20,000 festival goers with most of the free tickets being given to music lovers in the local Swindon area. However, so the rest of us don’t miss out, BBC Three will broadcast highlights of the two day event and Radio 1 will do its usual live feed from the event.
If thats not enough, Radio 1, renowned for their love of all things interactive, will be available online at bbc.co.uk/radio1, where performances can be watched live and on-demand.
Chris Moyles spent the morning bigging-up the event saying:
‘It’s the best weekend we have at Radio 1 and we always try to bring it to places that don’t normally get big events like this. The people of Swindon are going to love it!’

Seems they are expected to go fast this year but they’re giving away 40,000.
