American Idol Says Bye-Bye to Alexis Grace
Though the judges had teased Alexis Grace that they just may save her from elimination, her last performance was branded not good enough by Simon Cowell, and the 21-year-old single mother was sent packing back to Memphis, Tennessee.
A new twist was introduced in the show last week in which the judges have the chance to save a contestant from elimination – but the pass is only good for one use until five finalists have been selected. The panel must come to a unanimous decision to use the pass, and if that happens no one would be eliminated that week.
The judges considered using their pass for Grace as she gave it one last go onstage, her voice cracking.
After her performance, Simon reported: “It was good, but it wasn’t good enough. Sorry. It’s the end of the line I’m afraid.”
On Tuesday when Grace ruined Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” judge Kara DioGuardi told her she’d “lost her edge.”
Also at the bottom of the ballot were 16-year-old high school student Allison Iraheta and the 27-year-old oil rig employee Michael Sarver. Upon learning that he was safe, Sarver said “I’m gonna cry like a frickin’ baby.”
Do you think Alexis should have been saved?
Has she ever been out in the sun?
