Fans Impressed by Spears’ Lip Synchs?
What other mega star would dare use pre-recorded vocals during their live shows? And who would admit such a travesty? Just because Beyoncé wouldn’t do it doesn’t mean that Britney won’t, and it certainly doesn’t mean that she will show one iota of shame – she’s been lip-synching at massive crowds for years.
Reports from Britney’s New York performance say that Britney only actually spoke to the crowd on three different occasions. Twice, she thanked the crowd. And then once – just once – she sang a ballad (though these vocals were also questionable, apparently). Other spoken parts of the show were recorded.
What would be an extreme embarrassment for someone like, say, Ashlee Simpson, is somehow entirely forgivable for Spears – at least, that’s what seems to be hinted at by the crowds that keep showing up to see the star’s pantomime.
Interestingly, the crowd (of 16,000) at the show had no problem singing the words to every song, even if Britney couldn’t be bothered.
So: we all already know that Britney is not much of a vocal talent. But does that mean that she shouldn’t sing at all? Would people rather not hear her attempts? Do they prefer just to watch her gyrate to her recordings?
I have to wonder if Britney’s lip synchs aren’t a more pleasant experience than if she actually showed up to belt out her songs.
What do you think?
