Lil Wayne Being Sued for $1.3 Million
When Lil Wayne was a no show (three different times!) at a Rochester, New York venue, the promoter for the shows, Ed Strickland, filed a $1.3 million suit against him. According to Strickland, he paid a $100,000 advance to the rapper in October, and he was “blindsided” when Lil Wayne didn’t show up after rescheduling shows a number of times.
First, he was slated to perform at the Blue Cross Arena in October, but didn’t because the sound system wasn’t to his liking. After this original cancelation, he rescheduled twice more, ditching the dates at the last minute each time.
The final show, to be held January 21, was canceled at 12:17 a.m. on January 19 via an email that said it would be impossible to do the show due to “band logistics.”
Strickland took his complaints to the Democrat & Chronicle, to whom he said,
“We worked so hard to build credibility for the show. I was just blindsided. All indicators led me to believe everything was a green light. This is a business. I have a commitment to my investors, the public. A lot of money — TV, radio, print — went to make this thing happen.”
If what Strickland claims is accurate, it seems Lil Wayne just doesn’t bother with performances if he doesn’t feel like it, or is just too high that day. And you thought Kanye had the biggest ego.
