Usher’s Wife has Heart Attack during Liposuction
Usher’s wife Tameka Raymond is recovering from a cardiac arrest in a Sao Paulo hospital, which she suffered after having complications from a plastic surgery. Raymond suffered the arrest when she was being anesthetized for the surgical procedure. A spokesperson for the doctor behind the procedure reported that she “was revived in less than a minute by heart massage.”
The procedure that she was to undergo was a “simple liposuction,” according to Dastry, the spokeswoman for the plastic surgeon Silvio Sterman. After Raymond was revived, she was induced into a coma, and taken to the intensive-care unit at Sao Rafael Hospital last Friday night. Dastry assured the public in her statement that being taken to the intensive-care unit was standard procedure in such a case, in order to “avoid unnecessary complications.”
Later that day Raymond was transferred to the more fashionable Sirio-Libanes Hospital, and she is currently recovering there. A spokesperson at this hospital would only confirm Raymond’s presence there, and that her family had requested no information be given out.
Usher did not perform at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy bash last weekend, instead going to Brazil to be with his wife.
Usher and his wife have been married since August 2007, and have two young sons, Usher Raymond V.2, and Naveid Ely Raymond, 2 months.
