Silversun Pickups Swoon In With New Album

Shoe-gazing derivatives and general smartasses the Silversun Pickups are planning the release of their next full-length album, Swoon. Frontman Brian Aubert describes the album like this,

Some guitar magazine said about us, ‘They’re pretty cool, but they’re too dreamy for me.’ We were pretty proud of how we smeared thing. Even vocally, you might think I’m a girl sometimes. On this record, we went for that times five.

Expect the album to be released late this spring, and is to include tracks titled “The Royal We,” “Panic Switch,” “Broken Bottles,” “There’s No Secrets This Year,” and “Growing Old is Getting Old.” Also on certain tracks of the album is a 16-piece string section that contains members of the Section Quartet.

Yeah, Aubert says, they’re not really a ballad band – but a few songs on the album are “slow songs with strings.” Also according to the frontman, the band is still a little perplexed at the success they’ve experienced (you may have seen them blowing up MTV…well, between reality shows anyway). The band’s single “Lazy Eye” moved about 400,000 downloads so far.

Silversun Pickups are to tour this year, and their one confirmed appearance so far is for this year’s Coachella in April.
