The Cubical: Baby Don’t Treat Me Bad

Ever wondered what the intersection between The Beach Boys, The Animals and The Troggs would sound like?

Neither have I – Until now – and it, surprisingly, sounds awesome.

The Cubical dropped an mp3, their new single, in my inbox earlier. The song, titled “Baby Don’t Treat Me Bad” starts out with harmonies that you’d expect from The Beach Boys and as soon as lead singer Dan Wilson starts singing it immediately traverses into a mix of The Animals and The Troggs – which is a super combination.

Dan’s voice is rough but in the best kind of Rock ‘N Roll way – even though they are billing themselves as a Blues/Psychedelic/Garage band. You should definitely check these guys out as I am sure that you’ll be hearing more from them in 2009.

The band, from Liverpool – UK, are set to release their first album early 2009.

You can check them out at their MySpace page here. Alternatively, if you would like to get your hands on their new single – just send an email off to thecubical@hotmail.co.uk.
