Slipknot have raced to the number one spot on the US album charts with the release of their new album “All Hope Is Gone” – which was released last week (26th August, 2008).

They pipped The Game‘s “LAX” by only two thousand sales to grab the bands first ever number one album.

Previous attempts to scale the lofty heights of the US album chart have seen the band reach 2nd and 3rd with “Vol. 3: The subliminal Verses” and “Iowa” respectively.

On the bands website they had this to say:

“Thank you to everyone who went out and picked up a copy of All Hope Is Gone, the record is #1 in the USA as well as a number of other places around the globe. Thank you to everyone world wide for making this album so huge!”

At the same time as going number 1 in the States, “All Hope Is Gone” has also hit the sweet spot in the following countries :

  1. Canada
  2. Switzerland
  3. New Zealand
  4. Australia
  5. Sweden
  6. Finland

Did you get the album? What do you think?
