50 Cent: The Richest Hip-Hop Artist In 2008
Curtis Jackson, a.k.a 50 Cent, could probably sit back, relax and smoke a cigar or two for at least the rest of his days according to the recent income stats from Forbes.
The rapper has made $150million this past year. Most of that came from the sale of his shares in VitaminWater when Coca-Cola bought the company for $4.2billion. The music entrepreneur nearly doubled what his nearest hip-hop competitor, Jay-Z, brought home – $82million.
50 Cent and Jay-Z are almost in the same business mould these days – with music bringing in less and less of their yearly salaries. It is their business associations and public fame that aid their success. 50 Cent has supplemental income from his record company – G-Unit, which also has a clothing line.
One question I have is – what does one really need all that money for?
Expensive elephants?
