No Arctic Monkeys Album For A While

Don’t hold your breath waiting for the new Arctic Monkeys album!

Despite all the talk that them cold monkeys were hard at it in the studio, their producer, James Ford, has revealed he has been working hard on a few projects, but that doesn’t include the Monkeys’ new album.

One half of Simian Mobile Disco, James Ford worked on the Monkeys second album in 2006 entitled “Favourite Worst Nightmare“, he has also signed up to do a third album with them.

James spoke to reporters backstage at the “6 Music’s Summer Sundae” on the 10th August, where Simian Mobile Disco headlined, to confirm that the Arctic Monkey’s album isn’t quite ready.

James was quoted as saying:

There’s no Arctic’s stuff happening just yet, they’re still in the writing and demo-ing stage, I think. I’m still currently doing Klaxons’ new record and obviously Simian Mobile Disco’s new record – and I’m gonna be playing live with The Last Shadow Puppets as well so we’re just rehearsing for that tour really.”

James Ford seems a busy man these days with his musical collaborations and his recent “Mercury Nomination” for his production and drumming on “The Age Of The Understatement“, a little side project he has going with Arctic Monkey’s front-man Alex Turner and Rascals’ singer Miles Kane.

Guess we will just have to wait that little bit longer for a new Arctic Monkeys album then. With so many big name bands, Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, Oasis to name a few, producing new albums this autumn, Arctic Monkeys would need to be careful they don’t fall behind!

This could just be well timed protection from their managers who’d prefer not to pit their young-lings against the might listed above.
