Jay-Z Now Touting His Art Collection

Jay-ZHeadlining Glastonbury just wasn’t going far enough in Jay-Z’s plot to win over the English. The rapper has gone one step further by proclaiming a love for the creations of one of the UK’s biggest artists during the 1990’s.

During an interview on the Jonathan Ross show over the weekend, the Rocawear singer and entrepreneur confessed that he had recently taken a liking to the art world – and had purchased a piece by Damien Hirst.

The painting is called ‘Beat Life and Cheat Death’ and I cannot find an image of it anywhere on t’internet to show you. Apparently though, the painting was inspired by lyrics from one of the rappers albums – so maybe it has special significance.

I am not a big art (as in paintings and sculptures) person myself. Jay-Z maybe only let it slip that he had one of Damien Hirst’s pieces in order to up its value as the art world is all about ‘who has what’.

Never mind all the negative press about the star and Glastonbury. The down-beat appraisal by Noel Gallagher seemed to have been unfounded as Jay-Z rocked the Pyramid stage in front of one of the biggest crowds. It was the first ever hip-hop/R’N'B performance to headline the festival and no one was disappointed.
