Coldplay Single Violet Hill In Download Rush

ColdplayColdplay’s first single from their latest album (to be released in June) has been downloaded over 600,000 times in 2 days.

Violet Hill has been available as a download for free from the bands website since yesterday and all you have to do is give up your email address.

The song is something you’d expect to hear on X&Y, the bands previous record. Although that album sold millions around the world I was hoping for something extra from Coldplay this time around – a new dimension. Radiohead have had little problem recreating themselves with every album but Coldplay seem to be continuing along the same path as before.

I don’t doubt for a second, and this is all based on their first single, that the album will sell millions ’cause after all – good is good – but I wish they had taken a chance and experimented.

As always, YouTube has a version of the song – embedded for your convenience below.

Thanks. I knew the song was coming out but hadn’t heard it yet. You are right, it is good, but nothing different. My favorite song by Coldplay is still the Scientist, from way back. I’m still going to go to their site and download it.
